My Everything & More
Out of all the blog posts I plan to write, I think this one will be the longest but the most meaningful to me. If you know me, you know that I love Jesus with my whole heart. I truly cannot do life without Him. I've been blessed to grow up in a Christian home and attend Christian school, but just because I knew about God didn't mean I was walking with Him.
At 17, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I just knew that life was expensive, and I needed a career that would provide stability. I originally wanted to become a doctor, but after deciding that path was too long, I chose nursing instead, with the possibility of eventually becoming a midwife. I was accepted into a nursing program in Massachusetts in 2020, but just two weeks before leaving, everything moved online because of COVID. I was devastated. Even more than that, I slowly realized I hated nursing, not because it was difficult, but because deep down I knew it wasn't what God had called me to do.
When I transferred to another nursing program closer to home, I cried almost every night. On February 19, 2022, I remember sitting on my bedroom floor, completely broken, asking God why I felt so miserable. The next day, I was baptized. Wednesday afternoon (February 23, 2022), God gave me a peace I can't fully explain and made it clear that I needed to leave the nursing program.
I was terrified. I worried about what my parents, family, and everyone else would think. I questioned whether I was acting on emotion instead of faith. For the next year and a half, I struggled tremendously with doubt, wondering if I had ruined my future, if I'd ever make enough money to live, or if I had made the biggest mistake of my life.
But God.
He placed people in my life who constantly spoke life into me when I couldn't see the bigger picture. As I finally chose to trust Him, doors opened that I never could have opened myself. I was able to go back to school completely free, something that still amazes me, and now I'm entering my final year pursuing the degree He placed on my heart.
People still tell me I made the wrong choice, I will always struggle, and so much more; but I've learned that when God tells you to move, He never leaves you stranded. Today, I feel fulfilled, not because of a career title or a paycheck, but because I chose obedience over fear. Looking back, I wouldn't change a single part of the journey because every step taught me that God's plans will always be greater than my own.
My story isn't over yet, and neither is yours. Whether you're in your 20's trying to figure life out, or in your 50's feeling like life has already passed you by, your story is still being written. The fact that you're still here means God isn't finished with you yet. He still has a purpose for your life, and He still has plans for you. So keep trusting Him, keep showing up, and remember that sometimes the most beautiful chapters come after the ones that almost made you give up.
